Since I was inspired to play piano by ear after hearing a Mozart piano sonata when I was five, my love of music brought me to many places performing professionaly, whether it's a Dvorak trio, a big band standard, or a Daft Punk cover.  I began my formal training at the Cleveland Institute of Music for eleven years, while also studying violin, percussion, trumpet, and composing along the way.  Beginning by performing as a freelance accompanist, church organist, and teaching piano at Baldwin - Wallace College, I've gone on to play at the University of Connecticut Chamber Music Festival in 2009, and earned my Master's in piano performance in 2010. The handouts are usully about warm-up routines (excercises of tone, fingering techniques, tonging excercises, vibrato and so on). It depens on the level of the students. For young beginner students, I will begin with the Farber or Alfred all-in-one books. Once the student has progressed through the book, we will move on international piano books. I have used many of the pedagogy books, and I know how to find best curriculum for getting students to where they need to be technically and musically. I believe that music should be fun and enjoyable and I approach teaching in a friendly, calm and supportive manner. I like to communicate clearly, calmly and in a manner that is helpful and not critical. I find it tremendously important to be patient, engaging and encouraging of my students. I teach through positive reinforcement and encouragement with a set structure that allows for discipline and certain benchmarks that can determine success and mastery of certain skills. I truly believe that when students are nurtured and given a comfortable space they will excel as creating music and art is vulnerable and requires the student to let go.
