Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Schwartz has served on the faculties of New York University, Hunter College, the Lucy Moses Music School, and most recently the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and is the artistic director of the Winston-Salem, NC based experimental music group Forecast Music. My teaching methodology for students who are beginners typically consists of using music that the student is interested in as a template to teach them the fundamentals of music and basic technique for their instrument. After the student has made the connection between music they already love and their instrument, then I can start to challenge them with more difficult repertoire and musical concepts. For intermediate to advanced students I will help them work towards specific goals they have or help them set appropriate goals for themselves. Read More

At the beginning of our time, I like to set goals with my students. As we progress, we revisit these goals to make sure were on track and to see if any of the goals have changed. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I try to make sure that fundamentals are always maintained and that the music we are covering in lessons is stimulating and challenging while still being enjoyable for the student so that they can develop musical expression along with a strong technical foundation. Because I don't have a set template that all students follow, I believe that my constant assessment and evaluation of students needs is effective in making sure that each student's passion is nurtured and developed. In the past 14 years, I have taught every level of music education from age 1 to 22, and I have experienced teaching in many different scenarios including preschool music time, elementary chorus and general music, indoor percussion, and concert, wind, and marching bands. My I love to see and hear my students make strides in a positive direction through practicing their music, and with my help, enjoying every moment of it!
