Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I have taught private guitar and piano lessons for the last four years. I really love sharing all I can with others to enable them to have a fun and fulfilling experience in learning music. An approach I favor with students is to help them learn songs that they pick and then use those songs as a springboard to teach skills such as technique, reading music, theory, and improvising. My teaching philosophy for music follows an open-minded, creative path. Music is a language. We learn languages by listening and speaking. Listening to music is just as vital to learning an instrument as physically playing the instrument. I like to teach students that are passionate to learn and create, and they can shape how the lessons unfold. I started teaching right after I graduated from Berklee. I have worked in studios , but have been self employed for the most part. It’s very rewarding and creative that way. I have played 3,000 performances in my career, which gives me a unique perspective on teaching. I have run rock camps as well. I prepped the singers, drums, bass, keyboards, and guitar players. I do not give my students minimum practice times every day, while I do present them with a recommended schedule. Instead, I teach them how to make time during the day, how to adjust their attitude towards practicing, and exactly what obstacles they will need to overcome in disciplining themselves to practice.
