Teaching piano is my passion and I always strive to give personal attention to each and every student. I especially enjoy helping students develop their love of piano playing and their piano skills and watching them reap the benefits of their hard work and dedication I am active in participating and attending convention as hosted by the Music Teachers Association of California and other teacher's workshop in town and other workshops hosted by the Music publishers and well known composers. I also use most of the most common method, scale, and etude books, including Rubank, Klose, Ferling, Rose, and others. But over the years, I have incorporated many seldom-used but extremely beneficial studies into my lesson curriculum. Some of these include the Artie Shaw clarinet method books and the Stievenard Practical Study of Scales (out of print). The books mentioned above are just one part of the music used in my lessons. It's important to me to cater my teaching style to each student. Not all students learn the same way so its not a one size fits all. Some of my students need more pressure and more practice and want to have more material and others like a more laid back approach. I will spend the first 1-3 lessons to figuring out what your preferred learning method is, what the problem areas are, and what kind of books, tools, and games I should prepare for the rest of our classes. In addition to working with standard repertoire and method books, I devise my own exercises to help with breath control, tone production, rhythm, aural skills, and other topics. I dedicate particular time and attention to the areas where I believe each individual student can benefit the most (e.g., tone quality, counting, etc.). For young students, I like to incorporate music games and improvisation into my teaching, both of which help the student develop essential musical skills in a fun, relaxed way. Read More

Playing duets and tunes form the basis of lessons. You will learn scales and chords, rhythm, tone and being in tune. I like to include a bit of playing without reading music, depending on what your inclination is. For more advanced flutists, we will play Bach, Mozart, Telemann, Quantz (a flutist!) and whatever music you like and bring to the lesson. I sometimes use play alongs so we can play with piano or orchestra. Read More

Music has helped me a lot through out my life and I want to be able to watch students develop a passion and fall in love with music. I want to make sure that students progress at his or her own speed. I will help sett goals for my students at each lesson to help them progress in their music. I will acknowledge the students accomplishments to help my students progress and keep my students eager to learn more about music and their instrument. Read More
