I like giving my students the right tools, lesson by lesson, enabling them to proceed through the learning process.I usually start observing what the student come up with, wether on drums or piano and then I use their natural talent or inspiration to connect to my teaching path .This way I'm able to really engage with them, keeping them on that inspiration that brought them to me.I always try to adapt my style to the student inclinations since some of them are more for instinctive learning others more for academic learning. My teaching experience dates bak to my middle school/highschool days, as I began teaching friends how to accomplish that one part of the song they just could not work out. I use all types of books including Syncopation, Stick Control, New Breed, Advanced Funk Studies. Also I like to use other media where possible to teach different styles. Once the beginning student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce more musical applications related to real music. Preferably music the student is interested to learn to play. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
