My teaching experience pre-dates college. I started teaching private drum-set lessons when I was in high school - I was also section leader so I would frequently hold after school sectionals with the entire percussion section. After going to college I started to teach more and more privately, gaining more students here and there. Once I started my practicum and student teaching experience I was teaching in many public schools districts of ranging variety from - Paterson public schools, to Allendale public schools, then to Wayne public schools -ranging from grade levels K to 12th grade. I began my teaching career almost 20 years ago at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. While I was there, I worked with students of all ages and levels of playing ability. From that experience, I was able to not only develop a teaching method, but also to adapt and adjust that teaching method to accommodate for each student's unique personality and learning style. After several years of experience playing in jazz and conducting local workshops I moved to Milan in search of a more rich and diverse music environment and that's when the Latin Experience came. After playing for 8 years in the local Cuban Community with some of the best names of the genre I became an expert of all x22clavee' x22 rhythms and arrangements.In 2001, looking at broadening the scope of my experience I decided to move to New York, where I currently direct my own band, La Maquina Amarilla,which performs in the best venues in NY. I have been a full time performing artist my entire working adult life (since 1995). I have traveled the world performing with artists in the worlds of Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Rock, and even EDM.
