I believe the number one rule of playing music is to have fun. Stressing this frequently with my students to remind them to not get frustrated with themselves if they run into any challenges with learning their instrument is a part of my teaching style. One of the many motivational sayings I tell them is, "Nothing in music is hard, it's just unfamiliar." I lean heavily on what they're interested in, if they have any favorite artists or songs and I also balance that with artists and songs that are some of my favorites. Read More

I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all curriculum; all my lesson plans are customized to each individual student. Technique is very important, but no more so than being able to apply it in a musical way. Let start from the ground up! With a beginner guitarist or bassist I want to both keep them excited about learning and teach the the fundamental necessary structure required to develop into a one of a kind musician. I use finger training and strengthening techniques to get the students physical ability in tip top shape, along with innovative chord ideas and mental understanding techniques. Most importantly by the end of every lesson even the first one I leave my students with a cool riff to play to show them that what they are learning is truly working, I believe this will keep students engaged in the learning and keep them working harder for the next lesson. I use a variety of methods and am completely comfortable with giving diversified instruction to students of different age levels and skill/ability levels. I particularly enjoy giving lessons and the seeing the progression of student with Special Needs (I'm a part time para professional teaching grad 2 students with Special Needs).
