I believe a strong working knowledge of rudiments is fundamental to establishing good hand technique. I create arrangements combining rudiments to promote memorization and musicality. In addition, I teach four way coordination exercises, to develop bass drum consistency and promote general coordination skills. Students will also be introduced to different types of drum fills that progress into more challenging combinations using both hands and feet. Once a basic foundation in technique is established the student will be introduced to new music styles using pre-recorded play along tracks. Read More

My love for teaching began as a peer tutor in college. I tutored students in piano, guitar, bass ear training, and music theory. I began to love teaching when I noticed the change and progress it creates within people. While in college, I taught at a musical theatre camp as a music teacher. I taught music theory, ear training, and vocal music. Right after I graduated college I was accepted into the music education program at Teachers College Columbia University where I received my masters degree in music education along with certification in New York state to teach Pre-K through 12. I use all types of books including Syncopation, Stick Control, New Breed, Advanced Funk Studies. Also I like to use other media where possible to teach different styles. Once the beginning student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce more musical applications related to real music. Preferably music the student is interested to learn to play. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I have taken teaching styles from many of my teachers. My very first teacher was very keen on learning music I was interested in. I think this really inspired me and motivated me because of how fun it was. Read More

My music teaching experience began over fifteen years ago when my first student was recommended to me by my high school music director to teach a younger student privately. Since then, I have taught people of all ages drums, guitar, ukulele, piano, world percussion, and even some violin. I believe nothing is more rewarding than having a relationship to music, and teaching music has given me the opportunity to share the joy of music with others. Read More

I'm a passionate professional in the music business. I graduated from Monmouth University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. I'm trained in a classical background, but have developed skills in multiple genres over the years. I've performed around the country with various musicians and have gained much stage experience and performance knowledge along the way. I've had the opportunity to perform the Gramercy Theater in NYC, Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, NJ, and others as piano accompaniment, lead vocals and on bass guitar. Read More

I set clear expectations of the student in every lesson, working with them to identify a goal that is within their reach. Through consistent positive reinforcement, patience, and encouragement I help students through any issues they may be encountering. In finding objectives that are within the student's interest levels, this allows for a motivating experience that keeps the lessons fun and engaging. Read More
