For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the lesson books you or I provide, preferably Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I have been teaching since age 15 (1999). In addition to extensive performing experience on clarinet, I have functioned as a piano accompanist, choir member, and praise band member through the years. As a student of music growing up he was taught how to play the saxophone during his 7th grade year. Mr. W. started to flourish on the instrument and was quickly moved from Beginning Band to Advanced Band. Mr. W. continued to play Saxophone all through High School.
