My methods vary between each student. For beginning students, that are not learning in a school setting, I typlically start with Hal Lenard's Essential Elements For Band. Once the student had progressed, I will start to introduce solo repetoire that the student will be instested in, which could be pop tunes or other type of music. I like to incorporate weekly and monthly goals into my lesson plans, and I focus on accomplishments rather than shortcomings. I often offer incentives for younger students to encourage regular practice. I provide constructive feedback after every lesson and encourage questions as I feel reciprocated communication opens opportunities for learning. Beginner Piano - I typically start out with Faber's Piano Adventures Series. Once they have grasped the reading of music, scales, and arpeggios I start branching out into a fundamental book such as Finger Power and we start working on songs that they find fun and interesting.
