I will start with basic books that teach you the bare fundamentals of music, the notes, fingering, etc. If you already know the basics we will go into a more advanced teaching plan. Depending on your skill level and what you want to accomplish in terms of style and technique I will base my lesson plan accordingly. I will base what I teach you according to your musical influences, passions, styles you want to learn, and who you would like to become as a musician overall. Read More

I thoroughly enjoy seeing students progress, and the main ingredient in progression is practice! I try to make sessions memorable and keep the content engaging so that students can carry that with them throughout the week. I find if students aren't engaged in what the current task is, they will find it difficult to move forward and progress through their learning process. My teaching methods focus on building on the fundamentals of embodied proficiency with music (not just how to "read what's on the page", but first how to feel and delve into what's happening with all the moving parts and their many relationalities). For both children and adult students, before getting into structures and representations, the starting point will be the embodied feelings and experiences of and around music. In the first lesson, even my absolutely-beginner students will be having fun jamming, exploring and applying newly-learned things before we even talk about what a major scale is. Read More

I always want my students to strive, as I do, toward an ideal, without an attachment to the result. For example, if a student wants to play like Jimi Hendrix and become a Rock Star, we will talk about what it takes to reach that goal and work (and play) diligently and enthusiastically toward it, and when difficulties inevitably arise, that's OK. Keep up the practice and you will most likely reach your goal. Read More

I began giving guitar and bass lessons around 2010 to local high school and middle school students until 2013, when I began playing local jam nights and played in 2 local cover bands as well a Celt punk band called Lucky Lad Green.
