While there is no "One-size-fits-all" for all students, I start most students off with Essential Elements or Suzuki. As they progress I try to include pieces they like, pop songs, and different genres. The variety helps them stay engaged, learn a bit about different styles to broaden their knowledge, but also, have fun. As they get intermediate levels the paths diverge. I currently play trombone in ensembles such as the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra, Bone Therapy, Music City Bones, Music City Brass Ensemble, Franklin Brass Quintet, and in other freelance performances throughout the Nashville area. Even though trombone has always been my primary instrument I'm also very active playing bass guitar, playing in a wide variety of bands and genres ranging from hard rock to reggae.
