I start each lesson by setting the breath. I want my students to master the fundamentals of breathing, which consists of both breathing in and breathing out. The sound we make travels on the air, so it's important to learn how to use the air properly. If they don't use the air properly, they will compensate and sustain the sound with excessive tension. For repetoire I will use the Easy Song books for beginners, First Book of Songs for Intermediate and for more advanced students we pick out repertoire for specific voice types.
