Positive reinforcement is everything! While there will always be room for improvement and growth, it is crucial to acknowledge successes throughout each lesson. Learning a new instrument requires patience, practice, and determination, and reinforcers can be a huge motivator (I know they were for me when I was learning). Regarding my methodology, I always adapt my classical vocal technique to the needs and the musical tastes of the students. My main goal is to help students achieving their goals, whatever they are! For beginning students who are children, I typically start with easy technical exercises.
