Natalia S

Instruments:

I am a professional violinist and violin/viola teacher. I have over 12 years of experience teaching students of all ages (2-adult) and all levels. I truly love teaching and sharing my passion for music with others! Having studied violin since I was two and a half, I have learned that the instrument takes great patience. I am very patient and caring with all of my students. I also have high standards for my students, my goal is to guide them on their way to excellence. I usually teach using the Suzuki Method until the student is advanced enough to tackle repertoire outside of the Suzuki books. Along with Suzuki and other repertoire I use various etude and scale studies books to enhance technique. I emphasize ear training as well as note reading, posture, left hand technique, bow arm technique, and of course phrasing and musicality. Music is a beautiful part of life and I strive to share my knowledge of it with others.

More Information About Violin Lessons

Music shops that sell violins can usually also work out violin rentals. This is best for smaller, short-scale violins that are designed for small children. For adults, either used or new violins will work just fine. The only factor to keep in mind is that used violins are sometimes sold as-is, meaning it may not be in the best condition. Our instructors are familiar with good violin maintenance techniques and can be of assistance.
Musika offers customized one-on-one music lessons at your home - a time saving solution for busy parents and students. The convenience of in-home lessons allows you to save time without having to transport your child to class, allows your child to maximize their busy schedule, and provides a safe and familiar environment in which to learn.
Our teachers create a customized lesson plan for every student, so no two students' lesson plans will be identical. Topics covered during Musika's violin lessons may include, but are not limited to: how to hold the violin and bow, Different bowing techniques: detache, legato, staccatto, how to read music, musicianship skills to aid in playing in tune, developing a natural, tasteful vibrato for sustained notes, and most importantly, learn to have fun playing the violin!
We love adult students! We have adults who are complete beginners, some who haven't played their instrument in 10 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level. Our teachers have proven methods to get you the results you desire.
Our earliest recommended starting age for violin is 4, although exceptions can certainly be made for a younger student who is capable of handling the strings properly and who has sufficient strength in the fingers and hands. A teacher can help you decide which size instrument to choose depending on the age and height of your child.
