I like to approach teaching in a relaxed style. I find students do better when they are relaxed and comfortable. I love to see my students gain excitement to their playing as they see themselves progressing. I plan my assignments based on the students desire to improve. The more they improve the more their desire for playing is fueled. In the first lessons, I explain the the beginner students the basic functionality of the instruments, the proper way to hold the instruments, how to produce a clear sound from the instruments and a Major scale ascending and descending, the one from which the first lessons or the next lessons is written. If the students already had books from prior music instructor, we pick up from the last lessons after answering questions t o make sure the students thoroughly understand the lessons from the previous chapters and he or she is ready to proceed to the next lessons. I have been in and around music theory, performance and composition within the past 20 years and feel that my experiences in these areas well help not only to motivate others but to instill a passion to excel on their instrument. Orff and Kodály are the requirements throughout my college study, which I integrated into my teaching and found it helpful for developing students' sense of music. I am familiar with the major piano teaching system, including Faber, Bastien, Alfred and Baker. I evaluated the student's instinct on the piano at the first lesson to decide which material is good for them. I will encourage them to find the music they want to play, more importantly, I will adjust the music to their level so they can enjoy it more. Read More

I have spent the past three years living in Miami where I completed my Masters Degree in music education. During this time I was an active trumpet player in south Florida playing with orchestras, brass bands, jazz groups, and quite regularly latin bands due to the popularity of salsa/latin styles in that region. My Bachelors degree was completed in 2006 at the Univeristy of Delware. I completed their music teacher preparation program, participating in both educational studies and a wide range of music ensembles including wind band, brass choir, marching band, and jazz band.
