I begin by assessing each student's level, as well as their needs and desires, and then form a plan of action to address those needs. However, if students have another book for a school band class, I am more then happy to work with them to preserve some line of consistency in the students education. As they progress, I look to find more advanced etude and solo books, focusing on music that is of interest to the student. I ask them to bring any materials they have and will often recommend books and supplemental material I have had success with. I started playing trumpet in middle school band and enjoyed playing so much I quickly started a group with my brother and friends. Since then I have played more than 2000 shows at venues ranging from the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater to the intimate El Chapultepec.
