Having finished my degree, I currently teach full time with a studio of over 30 students in grades 5 through 12. I have learned an incredible amount from teaching students how to play the trumpet, I tell many of my students that I have learned just as much from them as they have from me. I still take private lessons from teachers around the central Texas area and beyond when I can work it into my schedule so that I can keep learning and passing on whatever I learn to my students. Sound is the most important aspect of trumpet playing, and the good thing is you can practice pretty much anything and still focus on your sound. For beginners I usually supplement their beginner band book with some simple drills from Schlossberg's Daily Drills or some I wrote myself.
