Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace and is learning things that interest them on a fundamental level. I am always very patient with all my students. I never try to put too much work on the student and always believe you should have more then one chance to get it right. Music is not a test and their is no failing, there is only the end result, which ends when the student makes progress, no matter how long it takes. I like to concentrate on my students abilities and ask that they bring 100% to their lessons as most of the lesson time is spent on the instrument; some lessons may be more informative for students interested inan in depthunderstanding of music theory. I only had one student thus far in my teaching career but i can truly say that i taught him so much during our experience together. The best part about teaching a student, and i'm going to restate what i said earlier, is that both grow in the process. It only took me a year to teach that little kid how to play properly. I stay flexible to the individual students' needs. I try to keep the student engaged and ask many questions to help them become their own best teacher. I will give assignments and create goals but also want the student to be self motivated. I will not be overly strict when it comes to practice. I like to have the student approach music with joy and curiosity. I like to keep the learning positive and help the students find their voice within music and find what motivates them intrinsically. In addition to performing in myriad musical idioms, I have made a career of private teaching, having conducted over 26,000 lessons since 2001. My performance experience weaves its way into many lessons, as I am able to share “real-life” experiences about the practicality of the material that we study.
