I have experience primarily in Classical and pop music, and I strive to make lessons fun for my students!! (Even when we are learning scales!) I enjoy challenging my students to experiment, explore, and compose their own music. I am always looking for ways to mix lessons up, whether that means playing Musical Twister or listening to music before playing. I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. I began playing the flute when I was in the fourth grade. What started as "the flute is pretty" has turned into a life long passion for music. I became a licensed music teacher in late 2013/early 2014 after graduating from college. I then taught at several part time and temporary music positions before working full time. I have taught lessons to fourth grade students on woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments as well as directing band in grades fifth through eighth. Read More

My main priority is always create my lesson plan around the students' goals and motivations. Learning how to play an instrument requires time, patience and discipline, that's why it's so important for the students to stay motivated, and enjoy the classes and the practices at home. For this reason I always try to adapt the methods and repertory that I use in my classes, to the the students' personal needs, combining their personal taste in music with exercises and pieces that help to improve their performing and technical skills.
