At the same time, I think a good music education is not only to learn how to play an instrument. At the same time, we should also know how to enjoy music. In the process of my teaching, I will take time to develop the childrens music appreciation. Let them love music, so that they will take the initiative and happy to learn how to play musical instruments. I believe that I have the conditions to be a good teacher: patience, dedicated, professional, like my students. Read More

I love teaching; it is my passion! But most of all, I get great satisfaction in sharing the love of music with my students. Seeing the accomplishments, achievements, an growth of my students is the thing that continues to inspire and drive me. I encourage my students to have fun and have a say in the music selection process, because I want them to feel like they too get to choose the music that they want to learn and play. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonards Essential Elements book, as well a basic understanding of music. Once the student has progressed to have a nice grasp of the fundamentals of music, I usually begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I also believe in the importance of listening to as many professional recordings as possible of the instrument the student is taking lessons on. Read More

I never had a degree in music nor I mastered a musical instrument. It was just my hobby because in my country, music would only offer limited jobs or may not be even considered as a career by many. Until now, I really enjoy playing those different musical instruments but I have decided to focus on piano and saxophone (tenor) because they have been like my first love and true love, respectively. By letting students practice how to improvise, students will learn not only the instrument itself, but also start to build a concept of ear-training, as well as music theory. To me, the music comes first than the music theory, which is why music theory always serves people's ear. I would have students learn how to play and hear chords, create a musical vocabulary and enjoy themselves. After letting them hear music, I will explain why they are hearing what they are hearing instead of letting them read it from a chart and not explaining why. Read More

During a lesson I tend to organize the lesson so that there are three or four parts. Usually I begin with long tones then we move to articulation. Then I usually incorporate a few small musical studies that cater to style and performance type. During this time it is important for the student to pay attention to the timbre of their performance. Next I cater to the students ability to create their own character with a solo. Read More
