Instruments:

I am a well-rounded musician with experience teaching private and group lessons. I am a hard-working and driven individual. I am friendly and get along easily with people. In 2011, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance-Instrumental (flute) and in 2013 I graduated with a Master's degree in Music Education, both from Pensacola Christian College. I was involved in the Pensacola Christian College Symohony  (PCCymphony) for 5 years and held the position of Principal Flute for 2 years. I played in the PCC band for 6 years. I was also involved in the Woodwind Ensemble. I have played the flute for 16 years and the piccolo for 10 years. I played in Rejoice Orchestra for Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College for the televised broadcast of Rejoice TV and was a session player for Rejoice in the Lord recording studio. I also have the experience of putting together my own recitals.

More Information About Piano Lessons

We suggest students purchase a piano or keyboard for their lessons, as they will need to practice every day in order to develop their skills on the instrument. We recommend a keyboard with weighted keys, as this will feel most similar to an actual piano. An actual piano will have 88 keys, but most keyboards start from 65 keys and go up from there. Common keyboard brands found at music stores are Yamaha, Casio, and Korg. Many keyboard sets will come with a case, stand, headphones, and may even offer recording features for recording your own playing.
Piano lessons in your home offer a convenient option for learning to play an instrument. 90% of our students take their lessons in their home, and this is a practical and time-saving way to learn the technique of the instrument. Think of all the time you can save by not having to transport your student to a class every week! In-home lessons are structured in the same way as a studio lesson, and in addition, a younger student may feel more comfortable at an in-home lesson, as they are already familiar with the surroundings.
There is no specific teaching method that all Musika teachers adhere to. All students will have lessons customized to their needs and goals as lessons progress. If there is a specific teaching style you are looking for, we will keep that in mind as we make your teacher match. Many teachers will have a few method books that they use for lessons, which will include exercises and techniques for practicing. All lessons will cover aspects of learning notes, proper technique, ear training, and how to read music.
For adults who are looking to learn to play the piano, we recommend that they do so with some clear goals in mind. Maybe you want to learn to play some of your favourite songs, pass an exam or write your own music? Whatever the aim, our experienced teachers can help unlock the skills necessary to make those goals a reality. It can take time to develop the techniques and co-ordination required to play the piano to a competent level. However, playing the piano is a great stress reliever, keeps you mentally active and can help with your hearing and fine-motor skills.
Learning to play the piano as a child is a fun, rewarding and vastly beneficial to their overall development. Children can develop their motor-skills, dexterity and coordination through technical piano playing - learning scales, chords and correct fingering. Young students can also develop their concentration, listening skills and ability to master complex thought processes through theory, repertoire and student-teacher feedback. Learning to play the piano can also be character building, such as instilling a hard-working attitude, developing self-discipline and confidence through practice, taking exams, enter competitions or performing recitals.
