As early as I can recall, Ive loved teaching. Whether that meant being a teachers assistant or elementary school aide in my younger years, or as a music educator throughout and post-college. In high school, I was a Dance Captain for my schools competitive show choir, and would compose, arrange, and choreograph. For beginning students, I like to start from Essential elements, Suzuki 1, or Piano Adventures. Students will also likely have a theory workbook or worksheets that match the level of their current repertoire. Intermediate students, we will start using a program called smart music that plays the accompaniment for pieces that we are working on. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I have been consistently teaching students since 2018. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument.
