My name is Berthe, I started taking piano lessons at the age of four and performed for the first time at the age of 8 at the Assembly Hall of the American University of Beirut. After graduating from High School in 1978, I attended the Faculty of Music of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik/Lebanon, where I pursued musical studies toward a Ph. My main instruments I play professionally are guitar, piano, and bass, as well as vocals. I was a Band Director for 28 years and can teach orchestral instruments through High School. I teach students of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels.

Adam B

Instruments:

I've always loved the power of music and sharing my knowledge and experience of it with others. I've been playing the piano and guitar since I was in high school, either with friends or just playing solo pieces. I've been reading music since middle school, when I picked up the trombone in the school band and was introduced to what music can do you for you as well as whatever group you're in. I took many music classes at IADT that reinvigorated my passion for music and I graduated there with a Bachelor's. Lately i've been helping my little brother and my friends get into the piano by teaching them mini-lessons, as well as jamming with friends on the guitar. I am ready to bring this knowledge to whoever is curious!

Ronnie Z

Instruments:

Hello! I am a highly energetic and passionate music educator from the central Florida area. Over the past 10 years, I have worked with a wide range of instrumental students in and out of the classroom. My primary focus is percussion (contemporary and orchestral), but I am proficient on several other instruments as well. My main goal as an educator is to help students understand the fundamentals of music at a higher level and fine tune their skills on their chosen instrument. I also strongly support creativity in music and enjoy helping students find their own path whether it be through playing or writing music.

Nick S

Instruments:

I am a very motivated instructor who loves sharing my love and passion for music.  I graduated from Glenwood High School in 2004.  I then went on to Western Illinois University where I studied jazz on trumpet.  I also went to Lincoln Land Community College with a Jazz performance major on trumpet and piano.  I taught choir at Lanphier High School during the main choir teacher's medical leave.  I played at Walt Disney World in 2005 as a fill-in on trumpet.  I have traveled across the country and internationally as well.  I have opened for and performed in major national acts across the country.  My teaching career started in early 2001, including private instruction in piano, trumpet, and voice.

More Information About Piano Lessons

We recommend that students get either a full size piano, or an 88-key, weighted hammer action keyboard for their lessons and practice. A real acoustic piano will provide the most satisfying learning experience, however, due to the costs and size of the instrument, a keyboard is often the more convenient option. Weighted keys will respond most like those of an acoustic piano, and keyboards have the added bonus of being portable and compatible with headphones. The most popular brands of keyboard or digital piano are Yamaha, Casio, Korg and Roland.
Piano lessons in your home offer a convenient option for learning to play an instrument. 90% of our students take their lessons in their home, and this is a practical and time-saving way to learn the technique of the instrument. Think of all the time you can save by not having to transport your student to a class every week! In-home lessons are structured in the same way as a studio lesson, and in addition, a younger student may feel more comfortable at an in-home lesson, as they are already familiar with the surroundings.
Piano lessons are usually structured around a series of method books which are recommended by the teacher, and can be purchased at a local music store or online. Lessons for a beginner usually start with learning the notes of the piano, and progress to learning how to sight read using songs the student is familiar with. As the lessons progress, more focus is placed upon proper technique, fingering, and posture, and basic music theory is also introduced. Whatever direction a students goes in with their teacher, the instructor will work to make lessons fun and enjoyable!
At Musika, we highly recommend that students looking to learn to play the piano do so with a clear goal in mind. Whether your goal is to learn to play your favourite tunes, reacquaint yourself with the piano, or just to play for fun, our experienced teachers can help you make those goals a reality. Learning, developing and improving technique, co-ordination and theory can actually be quicker during adulthood as the complex thought processes and theory are easier to understand. Adults can also help maintain their fine-motor skills, concentration and listening skills into later life.
Children are recommended to start piano lessons no earlier than age 4 or 5. The attention span and personality of the child are something to consider when thinking of taking lessons. Even if your child has no evident musical inclinations, piano lessons offer a great option for introducing your child to music. During their lessons children will learn how to read music, fundamentals of musicianship and sight reading, music theory techniques, and ear training.
