I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2015, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Platteville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral and General Music Education. I have taught piano for 14 years, voice for 10 years, and guitar for 3 years. Performing all over the midwest and areas of the east coast has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to accompany over 30 musicals. Read More

For guitar- I studied under Mike Christensen at Utah States University. I use his guitar books that he has written. For piano- I use Alfred''s piano books. They are very well written and are geared for success! For flute- I start with Suzuki and then the sky is the limit! I like playing music theory games with kids. It is more enjoyable to learn this when it is a game. Read More

I use the Piano Adventures method for most of my beginners. I generally include materials from a variety of sources, especially if the student needs more work in a particular area. I do have other methods that I use as needed, Piano Pronto, Supersonics, and Carol Matz Interactive Piano. There is also the option of going method-less, focusing on the skills that are in each piece of music. I also have a vast library of studio licensed materials that I share with students, most of them without cost to you. Read More

At the beginning of a lesson, I like to begin with something fun that the student has been working on. This could be a performance piece, some improvisational composition, or another activity related to the piano. As we go along, I like to branch into the theory behind what we are doing. Once they have a firm grasp on the basics, I like to begin students fairly quickly into learning the circle of fourths, and the scales and chords following the order of the circle of fourths. I am mainly using Alfred's Premier Piano series in my curriculum for beginning students who are children. I include material from other method books that help meet the needs I want for my students. It is very important for any student at any level to have a strong technical foundation starting with proper posture and hand shape. When learning new songs and pieces, I start off with aural experiences for the students, especially when rhythm is difficult. Read More

I'm currently attending school and majoring in both Piano Pedagogy and French Education. I love to play the piano and sharing my talents with other people. I have had many opportunities to perform in front of people. I love working with students and helping them to improve their musical abilities. My greatest achievements come from seeing the joy that piano can bring into students' lives. My goal every lesson is to get a smile from my students' faces. Read More
