I graduated in 2014 with my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Utah State University and, in 2018, my Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Kansas. I had the opportunity to be a part of the Chamber Singers at both schools where I was able to perform across Utah as well as Dallas, Kansas City, China and Costa Rica. I use the Piano Adventures method for most of my beginners. I generally include materials from a variety of sources, especially if the student needs more work in a particular area. I do have other methods that I use as needed, Piano Pronto, Supersonics, and Carol Matz Interactive Piano. There is also the option of going method-less, focusing on the skills that are in each piece of music. It is my belief that a teacher must be adaptive in order to create a positive experience for each student. For this reason, along with the lesson books, I prefer to help the student learn about what genre of music they are the most interested in. Some love to learn all types, but others have a "sweet" spot with certain composers or genres. I like to expound on that as much as possible, and help them to branch out from there. Read More

When teaching, I use very accepted strategies as I teach each individual. I work on the level and at the pace of each individual that is best for him/her. I keep a record of where each individual is at very regularly. I stay open for any questions, concerns, or ideas of others about the teaching and strategies that are used. In 2015, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Platteville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral and General Music Education.
