I have over 12 years teaching experience both piano and voice to students of all levels and ages. When I work with a student, my first goal is to establish a positive, open dialogue where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new techniques or styles, and stepping outside of their comfort zone. From there, I prioritize developing a healthy technique in both singing and playing piano, emphasize musical literacy where we regularly work on reading notes on a modern staff notation (with all the accompanying vocabulary), and explore a wide range of repertoire that speaks to the student. My students love the Faber Faber "Adventures in Music". These method books, in my opinion, have some of the most innovative and motivating pieces. This method gives the student a solid foundation in theory focusing on scales, and used in concert with other materials bring the student to a very proficient level. I also use supplementary materials such as Dozen A Day, Hanon, and Czerny. Martha Mier books for young children, especially her "Imagine" books are unique and inspiring. Read More

I have had the privilege of teaching piano, composition, music theory, and improvisation to students of all ages for more than nine years. I have also taught chess at schools and programs throughout the U.S. I have organized educational initiatives for prestigious arts institutions including National Sawdust, Red Bull Arts NY and Abrons Art Center NY. Students I have taught range from ages 4-80, and include a wide range of professions and personalities, including visual artists, chefs, atomic physicists, families, teachers, classrooms of up to 20 kids, as well many other musicians. In 2004, I graduated from Hartford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance. In 2006, I graduated from Manhattan School of Music with a Masters degree in Piano Performance.
