I began singing solos in church when I was 6 years old. I picked up the guitar when I was 10. At Montevallo, my primary instrument was voice and piano was my secondary instrument. I've been teaching professionally since 1981 -- 37 years as of this writing. My students have gone on to be professionals themseleves, but many of them just enriched their lives with music. I started my professional music career in 1983 when I joined an all-girls band. After 3 years traveling and recording with the band I struck out on my own and did a one woman show for 17 years. In 1993 I moved to Branson, MO and performed in my own show on the Lake Queen Riverboat for five years.
