Instruments: Piano, Trumpet, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Music, Keyboard

My teaching style is to identify what area a student needs help in and to remediate the problem by creating supplemental materials. Showing students what to practice and how to practice are key elements. My methods are geared to improve tone production, articulation, phrasing and musicality. I strongly recommend that students select classical music to practice. I heavily emphasize the playing of scales and arpeggios. The composers that are the best to study include Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Brahms. Read More

I always ensure that they can see the big picture that I can see, and our lessons are never only about improving the song or scene that they are working on in the lesson. I try to help my students see the connection between improving their performance techniques and preparation practices and their long-term improvement as a performer. Read More

Sharing music with others, with an audience or with an eager student, is a magical and rewarding experience that I cherish. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet

Fir beginning students, I usually begin using what ever book the student is using in Band class. I also like the Rubank Method of books for fundamentals, duets, and some solo work. After the student has a grasp of scales and tonguing, I will pick suitable repertoire. Also, if a contest is coming up or an audition for a regional band, I will work on this materials. With older more experienced students, I will ask what pieces they wish to learn. Read More
