I am a passionate teacher and musician and I have experience teaching students of all ages. In 2018, I graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a concentration in flute. I'm currently enrolled at the Hartt School where I am pursuing my masters degree in Flute Performance. I co-direct the Hartt School's Flute Choir and teach private flute and piano students. For beginning students, I typically use one method book and one book of simple melodies.  My preferred method book is the Rubank series. The method book teaches the basics, while the melodies and songs keep things fresh and interesting for the student so they want to continue.  For advanced students, I find significant, staple pieces that any advanced musician should have in their repertoire.  This keeps the student engaged, and prepares them for anything down the road in their musical careers. I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. For piano instruction, I prefer the Faber Piano Method Books, as they are tailored to the students' individual needs. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for playing flute! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, always asking for their input so that the direction of their musical journey can follow their desires. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs, and help ensure they have the necessary tools and support to reach their goals. After graduating from college I joined the Peace Corps. I spent 2 years in Tehran, Iran playing in the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. I returned to the U.S. and went back to school to get my Masters degree. I worked as a music teacher in the Bronx, N.Y. for several years. After that I worked at an electronic music studio in Hawthorne, N.Y. The studio eventually shut down and I began teaching Band at the Stamford Public Schools where I taught music at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Read More
