My teaching method is different depending on the abilities of each student. For beginning students, I use the Haskell W. Harr Drum Method Books 1 2, Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone, and The All-American Drummer 150 Rudimental Swing solos by Charley Wilcoxin. Once I feel like a student is strong enough on the snare drum, I will then work with them on developing limb independence on the drum set. In my lessons I use snare drum method books such as Mitchell Peters Intermediate Book or Stick Control by George Stone to teach reading and basic hand technique.  Once I feel the student is proficient in reading and technique I move on to drumset coordination books as well as learning drum parts to the students favorite music.  I also teach techniques for xylophone, tympani and other classical percussion instruments.  I have an extensive library of music books and techniques so if one method doesn't work I have no problem customizing my lesson plan to fit the student's need. I will begin with what the student is interested in, work with songs or genres that they like and go from there. I will always make it fun and engaging no matter their ability level. I will teach with some of the Agostini's books for every level, and some books that I used in school. We will learn, develop rudiments, grooves, concepts ideas, independance together and make it fun. The most important goal to me when teaching anyone of any level is to have them leave feeling like they've actually learned something. I feel as a teacher that the students wants and needs are paramount and should be treated as such. I like to work with whatever pace they're comfortable with and do my best to accommodate them with what they may want out of drumming.
