As I mention in the paragraph before, my approach to teaching is based on the value of Your personal, unique voice. My main goal as instructor is way more important than teach you the usual, obsolete repertoire that most of the teacher use since the beginning of times, it is instead working on making the student a unique, unparalleled music individual, through the stimulation of improvisation, instinct, composition and having a great time jamming. My lessons are based on a transfer of enthusiasm. When I get my students to hear what I hear and feel what I feel, there's nothing more rewarding! I pride myself in the fact that ALL my students that started with "package" or "trial" lessons renewed! Their goals are my goals and we work together to achieve them at a pace I can assess by their progress. Again, I don't teach music, I teach how to play the instrument, big difference, greater results! Read More

As stated in my bio my teaching experience especially given my age is extremely extensive. I started teaching saxophone at the age of 14 as a volunteer in the Songcatchers program in New Rochelle, a service that provided free private lessons to children who couldn't afford them. That progressed to teaching privately and in small groups as an upperclassman in high school for my band teacher and for extra money on the side. Read More

I let the student drive the lessons if they have some experience. If they like Led Zeppelin then I will find a way to use Zep licks and solos to teach them the basics of the instrument to the advanced understandings of solos. For beginner students I always start with basic chords, chromatics, and ways to warm up. I often use the CAGE system when starting with beginners so they will get the basic chords and understand how they are applied all over the neck of the guitar. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to middle school. I didn't get paid for it but I would teach the drummers their part the ensembles and performances in the orchestra and jazz band. That way the teacher could focus on instructing the other students the different instruments. I started booking regular paid gigs after college. I would perform shows and people would ask for lessons after the gig, networking is a big part of the professional side of playing music I encourage listening to all styles of music. Read More

I work to determine how best you learn, and then we move in your direction. I am left-handed and have learned to accommodate as well as individuate. My idea about life is that anything a person wants to learn CAN be taught. What is required? A deep desire and patience. But there is nothing as exciting as playing an instrument! Or learning to sing, and feeling the power that comes when you express yourself. Read More
