I have several methods, but mostly I teach to sing based on solfeage and songs, either italian, german, latin, spanish, and french. Solfeage helps the student to understand better sheet music and also helps understand the real emotion of the piece, among other things involved in a piece. I have been instructing students in voice for a year now. I have worked with kids as young as 6 years old to high school level. I encourage consistent and regular practice, but also breaks and time to ask questions if one is stuck and not sure what to do. I mainly use classical style techniques and songs to build strong vocal instruments, but I also reference and use genres that individual students prefer to sing to keep their interest and build their love for singing. I am passionate about communicating through music and training others to achieve their full potential as a musician. I have served in twelve different churches over the years as a Minister of Music, and am still serving in that capacity. This has involved directing vocal choirs and ensembles of all ages, directing handbell and handchime choirs, and directing seasonal musicals and pageants. I've performed in several orchestras at the college level and competed in a variety of fiddle contests throughout the state of Texas, most recently the Fiddler's Frolics in Hallettsville, Texas. I have been a volunteer after-school violin instructor in the Houston Independent School District (Roosevelt Elementary, Gallegos Elementary, and Martinez Elementary) and local Jewish community centers. I'm also very active in the Houston opera and theater communities and have performed in nearly a dozen productions in the area, often in small accompanying orchestras and as a soprano and/or actress.
