I feel that there are a few basic concepts that all teachers must understand, one of which is, all students are different. Teachers may use similar tools, as means to teach a lesson, but how those tools are used will vary from mentor to mentor, and student to student. For beginning students who are children, I like to start with Hal Leanard's Rubank Elementary Method Cornet/Trumpet. If a student has a grasp of the fundamentals, I work with the basic blues and scales to build a repetoire. For Adults, I like to work with jazz standards as well as H.L. Clarke's Technical Studies for Cornet and Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet. I like to make my lessons fun and engaging. Read More

Students will continue in the book and proceed to their daily lesson exercises until they are ready to play other higher level music pieces. Read More

I like this method because it starts out very basically and simply and gradually increases in difficulty. Voice students must first pass an Audiation test which is essentially a test of their sense of pitch. From there I begin with vocalizations followed by singing materials. I have composed my own First Studies for Guitar. Read More
