I hold a PhD in Musicology (with a focus on the music of Japan) from Cornell University (2018), and regularly perform on both piano and trumpet here in NYC. Daryl began playing flute at the age of 11, as part of a middle school band class. His band instructor noticed his innate talent, and began to prepare him for studies at the Music Advancement Program at the Juilliard School. During this two year program, Daryl studied flute with Jayn Rosenfeld, played in chamber ensembles and orchestra, while also studying music history, music theory, and ear training. I guess my point is, I can play any instrument and if I had more time in the world, I could practice more. I took all of the music classes in my college and I passed with flying colors (except brown because he has a broken wing so he can't fly that much, but other colors flew high).
