Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I am finishing my DMA in Jazz Performance at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and love to teach, perform, and spend time with my wife and child. Hi, my name is Dylan Carpenter, I've been teaching for about 11 years. I graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Music Performance degree in 2015 and won my position with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America in 2018. While in college I had the exciting opportunity to perform around the state in outreach engagements as well as abroad in China and Mexico. For beginning students I teach my students using the Arban methods book. I do this to build consistency with slide positions. I also use my tuner and metronome to make sure students are playing in time and in tune.With out this stuff bad habits can happen from the start. I introduce solos for beginners and let my students pick what they want to play from the list. I make sure I reward students for their efforts. Read More

I make sure that the student has a grip on the material without ever making them feel like the material is a little too hard for them to understand. When they are laughing, they are learning and what better way to learn than to have fun with it? I incorporate dancing, poetry and all other art forms to teach and the students gravitate to that and use what they learn in our lesson to write their own music and go off to have fun doing so.
