My choirs have performed at Carnegie Hall two times, Disneyworld, New Orleans, State Capital, and many other locations winning UIL and other state, local and national competitions. As a singer I have performed with the Fort Worth Opera, in San Francisco, Germany, Austria and our Nation's Capital. My students have won UIL state and local competitions, piano competitions and many college scholarships. I strongly believe referencing pop and youth culture can help build techniques that are clear and understandable to my students. In my experience, but is no surprise, I've seen that children learn in different ways. Flexibility within ones teaching style is necessary to help develop the young singer. I encourage creativity, understanding and fun. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students succeed in whatever they are passionate about. Whether that be making their Broadway Debut or learning to love music as much as I do. I encourage my students to set realistic goals for themselves at each lesson. I like to make each lesson fun but productive. I like to find commonalities in what I am teaching to their everyday life. I believe in age appropriate techniques and repertoire, and use both warm-ups and vocalises, along with accessible repertoire to foster technique and give students the tools they need to think through a song on their own. I follow standard Bel Canto technique for all of my students, then teach modifications for each style. Even my belter students are still asked to sing in their head voice for vocal health and balance. Read More

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, I began playing guitar when I was 8 years old. My love for music has deepened over time, and I feel it is important to share my knowledge and passion for the art with whoever is willing to learn. My earliest teachers taught me in a way that made music fun, rather than tedious, which to me is essential.
