With young beginner string students, I typically will start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. After a few weeks of that, the student will have grasped the fundamentals. and then I will introduce the Suzuki method, supplementing with the O'Connor Method. For piano I generally will start with the Suzuki method and supplement with any songs the student is interested in learning. For Adults I try to find out what style of music the student is interested in, and how much experience they have and structure my lessons accordingly to keep the student engaged and ensure they are having fun! I use the Rubank elementary method book to start my students out with. I also use a variety of classical music books and if a student wants to learn a particular song I will find the sheet music for them. I also use different exercise books depending on the students level. I also start out with the saussman haus method for my very beginners, I like how they have bright pictures for children beginners and it is easier for them to understand, after about 8-10 pages of that one I integrate the rubank method book into it. Students will have many opportunities to perform, participate in workshops where we focus on certain techniques, certain types of music (i.e. fiddle, mariachi, jazz), learn improvisation, and meet guest artists. I currently teach students of ALL ages, and I also teach students with Special needs such as ADHD, Anxiety, and autism. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
