Hi! My name is Lauren! I have been a private violin and viola teacher since 2015. I have been playing the violin and viola since I was 6 years old and immediately loved them and I hope to help you love the violin and viola the same way I do! I teach the traditional classical method and the book I use is Rubank elementary method as my main teaching guide but I also take little pieces from other books if a student needs a little more work on something. I played in the orchestra near me for many years and helped my students get into different orchestras around the area
My teaching experience began in middle school. I asked my orchestra teacher if I would be able to help mentor some of the other students when they needed added help and he said absolutely and my love of teaching began there. I mentored all through middle school and all through high school and was first chair multiple times during those years. I stayed in touch and he sent me students who needed help with the music when they needed it. I started teaching privately in 2015 all over the area and also worked at a music school in new jersey. I love teaching and hope you will love learning from me.
I use the Rubank elementary method book to start my students out with. I also use a variety of classical music books and if a student wants to learn a particular song I will find the sheet music for them. I also use different exercise books depending on the students level. I also start out with the saussman haus method for my very beginners, I like how they have bright pictures for children beginners and it is easier for them to understand, after about 8-10 pages of that one I integrate the rubank method book into it.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students progress each week and to see how excited they are when they finish each level. It is beyond rewarding to see my students proud of what they accomplished and know they worked so hard to get where they are! I love helping others be able to tap into their creative side and help them express themselves through the music of their choosing, it is also amazing when my students decide they have a song they want to write and are able to create that song from their hearts and souls.
