I have experience teaching all ages, from 5th grade to 55+, and I find it the most rewarding when my students work hard, improve, and achieve their goals. I urge my students to practice regularly on a consistent schedule; improvement is dependent on this, but I also encourage them to explore. Following a long, fun and successful 20+ year career as a pro musician, I became a full-time music teacher. I was the founding music teacher at St. Benedict's Episcopal school in Smyrna, GA where I taught music K-8 for seven years. Most of my teaching experience is with children ages 4-15, however I am comfortable teaching students of all ages and of varying skill levels. I'm currently a graduate assistant at UGA. I am principal violist of the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra and violist of the Hodgson String Trio. I am also an orchestral instructor for the UGA String Project. I have performed in several orchestras in the southeast United States including the Bryan Symphony, Owensboro Philarmonic, Augusta Symphony, Oak Ridge Symphony, and Albany Symphony Orchestras. I began giving private and group music lessons soon after graduation from high school in 2002, and quickly learned to love it. During college, I took on some new students and continued to gain experience in a variety of instruments as I took classes and taught not only cello, but also piano and violin. Within months of my college graduation, I became involved with a mission school in the Dominican Republic, where I taught music theory, history, chorale, and private lessons -- all in the Spanish language.
