All students are talented, my job is to help you develop your talents and help find opportunities for you to grow. My teaching method will be largely based on what you want to accomplish as a musician. My students taking the classical route will become familiar with the Suzuki Method books. I like to supplement this with etudes, folk tunes, and something of personal interest to you (pop music, world music, video game, etc.) If you are more interested in a fiddle/bluegrass approach, I will start you on the O'Connor Method books for violin/viola. I have experience teaching all ages, from 5th grade to 55+, and I find it the most rewarding when my students work hard, improve, and achieve their goals. I urge my students to practice regularly on a consistent schedule; improvement is dependent on this, but I also encourage them to explore. I foster learning more about the music and the people who make their favorite music great, and to seek and discover what they can do on/with the instrument. Read More

I recognize that every student is unique in the way they take in new information and progress in their playing/singing, so I do my best to successfully tailor each lesson to each students individual needs. I am classically trained with more than 15 years of international performing experience and 6+ years of private and classroom teaching experience. Besides private teaching, my experience includes teaching in an El Sistema setting (B Sharp Youth Music program in Texas) and for public school-based programs like String project and Boys and girls club in GA. I have been fortunate to teach the viola at the UGA Summer Camp and as a visiting clinician at area schools. Read More
