I teach the basics using a combination of methods, customizing lessons to each student's skill level, ability level, and interest (classical/folk/modern). For beginning students I suggest using the Suzuki Method, or Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. I graduated with a BM in Viola Performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in May 2017, and I am currently a graduate assistant within the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia. I'm currently a graduate assistant at UGA. I am principal violist of the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra and violist of the Hodgson String Trio. I am also an orchestral instructor for the UGA String Project. That can seem a difficult goal for students, so each lesson targets a realistic goal for practice techniques and improvement. As we work on the short-term objectives, we also have the long-term goal of recitals and possibly other performances throughout the year.
