My teaching experience began when I was in high school, and has continued throughout my higher education. Most of my teaching experience is with children ages 4-15, however I am comfortable teaching students of all ages and of varying skill levels. I am very interested in music pedagogy, and have taking a number of pedagogical courses within the last couple years, so I am able to come up with a number of approaches when taking on a new student, each approach catering to individual student needs. My cello instruction is separated by levels and books. Level 0-1 is in Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books 1 and 2. Level 1-2 is Rick Mooney's Position Pieces Book 1, as well as sheet music and books outside of that method book. Level 2-3 is Rick Mooney's Position Pieces Book 2 and sheet music, and 3+ will be Rick Mooney's Thumb Position books. I have experience teaching all ages, from 5th grade to 55+, and I find it the most rewarding when my students work hard, improve, and achieve their goals. I urge my students to practice regularly on a consistent schedule; improvement is dependent on this, but I also encourage them to explore. I foster learning more about the music and the people who make their favorite music great, and to seek and discover what they can do on/with the instrument. Read More
