I like to create very clear imagery that builds over time. The voice is not something we can see or touch, so I often joke that singing is about learning Jedi mind tricks that help us achieve a healthy technique. I like to incorporate theory/musicianship and some piano into my lessons to create a well rounded understanding of singing as a musician. My style largely depends on the student and his/her needs and interests. I enjoy using rewards-based encouragement, especially for younger students. The rewards I give are always musical and I usually let the student choose. For example, one of the rewards for consistent practice, learning songs, and listening to recordings is the opportunity to write a parody song.
