Due to lessons being customized for each student various method materials will be used including: method books, theory books, performance books, and my own materials that are created to fit the students' needs. After a level assessment during the first lesson music, including books, practice materials, and solos will be chosen to meet that level and be age appropriate. Lesson pacing will be set at an appropriate rate so that older students will be taught at a faster rate than a young beginner so that each student is given the best experience possible while still having fun! I have my teaching degree from Indiana University in Music Education with a piano concentration. I have experience teaching in a traditional school, private school, home school, community building, and private music studio lessons for over 20 years. I began teaching back in my sophomore year of high school when one of my friends wanted to learn how to play the piano. I gave them half hour lessons once a week and tailored my teaching to fit what techniques they wanted to learn. After that, I began branching out and teaching other friends, and eventually found myself helping out the middle school bands during my study hall. Now that I am in college, my own playing has improved and I have found new ways to connect and teach students whether that be in person, or by using technology such as skype. Read More
