Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Due to lessons being customized for each student various method materials will be used including: method books, theory books, performance books, and my own materials that are created to fit the students' needs. After a level assessment during the first lesson music, including books, practice materials, and solos will be chosen to meet that level and be age appropriate. Lesson pacing will be set at an appropriate rate so that older students will be taught at a faster rate than a young beginner so that each student is given the best experience possible while still having fun! I began teaching back in my sophomore year of high school when one of my friends wanted to learn how to play the piano. I gave them half hour lessons once a week and tailored my teaching to fit what techniques they wanted to learn. After that, I began branching out and teaching other friends, and eventually found myself helping out the middle school bands during my study hall. Now that I am in college, my own playing has improved and I have found new ways to connect and teach students whether that be in person, or by using technology such as skype. Read More

Regardless of age I always start with a new student with the basics: Posture and Breath. Even experienced singers need the occasional return to the basics. From there I begin the take there age into account and start younger students out with basic vocalize and technical adjustments. Older students will start the same, but with a larger focus on removing deep-seated tensions in their technique. Older student will also receive some extended vocalizes. Read More

I studied music at Indiana University and have been teaching and performing for over twenty years. I am currently on the board of the Harmonie Opera Club in Indianapolis. For all students initially, I like to have them bring me the repertoire they want to sing. Because I believe that healthy singing comes from the heart, I want my students to sing the music that brings them joy. While there is place for assigned repertoire at a certain point in time, it's important for a student to approach singing with the healthiest mindset possible. In the first few lessons, I may not even touch repertoire if I feel that the student needs more work on easing up their instrument and discovering the sensations that work the best for them.
