In 2013, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in songwriting. I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls alongside Grammy award recipients on several occasions. When I was fourteen, I performed solo at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. My teaching philosophy is "exploration as a road to mastery." I help students build a repertoire they can perform. This tends to be a combination of songs they know and love, and songs that I introduce them to. I introduce the elements of music theory in relation to songs. Scales, harmony, and ear training are grasped better, and enjoyed more, once a student has context. My goal is to have each student feel safe in the learning process, while still pushing them out of their comfort zone. Read More

I will start new students, especially young students, with folk songs, games and exercises to train the ear, sense of rhythm, and acting muscles, prepare them to be able to read and understand musical notation, and encouragement to perform in a solo capacity when possible. As students progress in skill and expertise, we will begin learning songs with notation, continue developing sight reading and aural skills, introduce more challenging repertoire and foreign languages, deepen technical vocabulary and understanding, and prepare for audition opportunities.
