Each of my students goes at their own pace, and while I encourage them to stretch their abilities and interests, I always keep their own goals in mind. I tailor my teaching to each student's current ability and level of interest. Every student is different in personality, interest and motivation, and I do my level best to approach each student individually with this in mind. I try to encourage each student to practice regularly to achieve the weekly goals I set at each lesson for the student. I believe helping the student achieve success each week is vital to his development as a musician, for I believe this success will often serve to motivate the student to put in the work necessary to advance his skills, which will ultimately become lead the student to become more self-motivated. I love music as an art form, as well as from an analytical standpoint. My goal is to create powerful THINKERS who use the medium of music to push the boundaries of their understanding. I began my musical journey at the age of 8 where I studied cornet playing under K.C. Hughes. It was during these lessons that my passion for learning new styles developed. My teaching experience started in 2016, when I founded my private teaching business, "Brenden N. Music". I taught private trumpet lessons, as well as student teaching in an AP Music Theory class. In 2017, I continued to teach privately, as well as working for the Oklahoma State University Youth Orchestra, acting as an extra set of ears and running wind sectionals. I most recently taught as a Brass Instructor at the Salvation Army Youth Education Town in Arlington, TX, where I worked with around 180 kids, ages 7-12, and directed three brass bands of varying skill.
