My teaching style is strongly centered around the idea that music is more than an activity, it is a way to communicate life skills from a teacher to a student. The ideas of practicing and performing teach students what it means to be organized, skilled, and hard working. I think that it is important for students to set their own goals, achieve them, and be praised for their success. Students need opportunity to play along with more experience performers and I seek out every chance to insert my students into this role. I have secured opportunities for students to be the opening act for Texas country star Jolie Holiday. I'm a mellifluous performer and passionate music educator. I completed my graduate degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Denver - Lamont School of Music in 2017 and his undergraduate degree in Music Education at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith in Spring 2015. I was privileged to receive private lessons from guest artists at UAFS: Andy Martin and John Fedchock. My teaching career started as I was about to graduate high school when I began teaching private trumpet lessons to beginners. In college, I continued to teach private music lessons until I got my degree in music education. Since then, I've had the privelege to teach public school, private school, music camps, as well as private lessons and tutoring (for over 13 years now). I love music as an art form, as well as from an analytical standpoint. My goal is to create powerful THINKERS who use the medium of music to push the boundaries of their understanding. I began my musical journey at the age of 8 where I studied cornet playing under K.C. Hughes. It was during these lessons that my passion for learning new styles developed.
