Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I'm a mellifluous performer and passionate music educator. I completed my graduate degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Denver - Lamont School of Music in 2017 and his undergraduate degree in Music Education at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith in Spring 2015. I was privileged to receive private lessons from guest artists at UAFS: Andy Martin and John Fedchock. I tailor my teaching to each student's current ability and level of interest. Every student is different in personality, interest and motivation, and I do my level best to approach each student individually with this in mind. I try to encourage each student to practice regularly to achieve the weekly goals I set at each lesson for the student. I believe helping the student achieve success each week is vital to his development as a musician, for I believe this success will often serve to motivate the student to put in the work necessary to advance his skills, which will ultimately become lead the student to become more self-motivated. As far back as I can remember I've always had a fascination with musical instruments and a deep desire to make music. I have attended a few private music schools in Los Angeles, CA in 1994 and in 1996 which allowed me to hone in my skills. I participate actively in praise and worship teams to the day since 1992. Music is a language! I teach music in a similar manner as we learn to speak. We learn to speak through trial and error having no wrong words and music should be taught in a similar fashion, where there are no wrong notes. We learn our speaking style, manner and/or accents by what we hear and this concept also applies to music; therefore listening is a crucial part for advancement and the pleasure of learning. For those at a beginner level, I typically start with the basics of breathing, buzzing, embouchure development, scales, basic music theory, and basic instrumental proficiency. I also use the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements book to learn basic solos and melodies. For those at the intermediate levels, I start to incorporate scales, solos, range, and standard trumpet books, such the Arban Conservatory Method, Clarke Technical Studies, and the Iron's Flexibility exercises.
