I'm a passionate composer and performer who loves working with students to develop an individual appreciation for music, while focusing on growing as a player. I'm currently studying Music Performance with a Jazz minor at Oklahoma State University under the instruction of Paul Compton. Because I spend a lot of time composing, I have a deep knowledge of music theory that I can use to not only explain concepts to students, but give them a deeper understanding of what is actually happening. I have taught lessons since the beginning of college with all ages and learning types. Teaching has always been a passion of mine so I pursue it whenever I can. I taught lessons at both UAFS and DU during my time earning my degrees. For beginning younger students I begin by working a very short time with parents to assure them their children are in a positive learning environment. Parents of small children are encouraged to attend each lesson with their child. The core principles of musicality, breathing, and perspective are taught. The next step is sound and movement. For my beginners, we focus heavily on creating familiarity with the horn by fostering an environment of healthy habits. Our primary concern with beginners is being comfortable enough with the horn to be i complete control of the demands asked at this level.
