I typically begin with fundamentals to get an understanding for what areas of a student's playing need to be addressed. I'll try to correct future problems that are usually caused from poor fundamentals. Following this, we'll take a look at Bordogni etudes to see the student's understanding of time and rhythm. I'm a mellifluous performer and passionate music educator. I completed my graduate degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Denver - Lamont School of Music in 2017 and his undergraduate degree in Music Education at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith in Spring 2015. I was privileged to receive private lessons from guest artists at UAFS: Andy Martin and John Fedchock. Students of all ages will work out of a technique/method book. Younger students will use Walter Beeler's Method for Cornet/Trumpet, more advanced students will play from Arban's. I emphasize a "classical" approach, especially with younger students to solidify their skills, encouraging intersted students to begin including jazz improvisation into their studies as their skills advance.
