Students of all ages will work out of a technique/method book. Younger students will use Walter Beeler's Method for Cornet/Trumpet, more advanced students will play from Arban's. I emphasize a "classical" approach, especially with younger students to solidify their skills, encouraging intersted students to begin including jazz improvisation into their studies as their skills advance. I'll try to correct future problems that are usually caused from poor fundamentals. Following this, we'll take a look at Bordogni etudes to see the student's understanding of time and rhythm. I love to watch my students become better versions of themselves through the medium of music. I never want my students to be satisfied with reaching a destination on their goal charts. I want my students to become so infatuated with the journey, that they will seek to continue to look for new experiences to explore. I create this environment by keeping lessons diverse and dynamic. I make each student compile a list of goals for themselves, 3 big goals, 5 goals the lead to each of the 3 big goals, 10 goals to lead to each of the 5 goals, and finally, daily goals that will help us accomplish the 10 goals.
