With an individualized approach, I teach musicians of varying ages and skill-levels through different genres (classical, musical theater, opera, RB, pop, folk, jazz, contemporary worship, etc). For beginning students, I typically start with a Sound Before Symbol Method. That is, we learn to get to know the instrument before adding sheet music and theory. Every student's learning track is individualized- So if you want to learn pop music, I will arrange that for the flute! If classical is what you are interested in, I will bring in the Bach Partitas. I am a musician who is passionate about sharing my love of music with my students. Throughout my six years of teaching, I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. I attended Western Michigan University for Music Therapy with piano as my primary instrument. Through applied lessons with distinguished faculty, I further developed my musicianship and teaching skills through performance and application. I completed my courwork and graduated Magna cum laude this past May and will start a music therapy internship this coming fall as my final degree requirement. Read More
