A St. Louis native, I have been studying the violin/viola since I was 9 years old. I am an enthusiastic and caring instructor who enjoys working with students and watching them grow. Currently I am in my senior year at UMSL, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Music Education. I currently serve as the principal viola in my school's orchestra, the UMSL Symphony Orchestra. Karla received her Music Educators license in Instrumental Music from William Jewell College in 2005. Instrumental Conducting, Secondary Music Methods, Instrumental Techniques, and Educational Psychology were some of the courses that prepared her to become a more knowledgeable teacher. If a student has an half hour lesson, I encourage them to practice daily a half hour five days per week. If a student has an hour lesson, then I expect practicing an hour daily five days per week. I also like to involve parentsespecially of younger students to be involved with and in their childs practice. My goal is to encourage students through praise. I'm a young violin instructor who is passionate about teaching music to students of all ages. I graduated from Park University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Violin Performance, and I am currently working on my master's degree. I enjoy performing, and I often perform throughout the Kansas City area, as well as various opportunities around the world.
