I believe that there is no style of teaching that works universally for every student. While there are techniques and methods that all students need to learn, each student has different interests and learns in a myriad of ways. Therefore the pacing, mood, and content of the lesson will vary from student to student. I encourage students to practice regularly, reinforcing the notion that consistent practice is better than high sporadic practice--it's better to spend 15 minutes on the instrument every day rather than an hour on your instrument one day of the week. For beginners we will take it slow but hard work is always needed. I can teach you everything that I know,but it’s up to the student to take in what’s going on and work hard to get down fundamentals . Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
